The new ASI Louth website has recently launched!

Archaeology Scene Investigations in North County Louth is an interactive website where you can uncover and interpret the past through the archaeology of the area as found during the construction of the western by-pass around Dundalk. The website will help students and pupils, who study Archaeology or want to know more about the archaeological site of County Louth to learn and find out more details in the interactive way.

ASI Louth, developed as part of our ASI exhibition has been nominated for an Eircom Golden Spider awards in the Education Category. There were seven other nominations covering disciplines as diverse as James Joyce's Dublin to nature and bio-diversity; survival skills for 6th form and a film making course, IT in education and entrepreneurship skills.

ASI Louth's team came to deliver a unique website in terms of design and interactivity. The friendly layout allows users to very quickly find information. The interactive Google-maps of North County Louth were integrated to create the alive-Artifacts Map along the M1. A lot of fascinating images are available and the Interactive Timeline guide gives a unique perspective into an unforgettable world… A world of discovery awaits...

The address for the website is: www.asi-louth.ie

Alan Complete's Movember

Movember, the month formerly known as November, challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days. Movember 2010 has just ended and Alan who took part told about his experience.

"Movember went pretty well, I raised €265 for the Irish Cancer Society. Things were starting to get a little "hairy" towards the end of the month, and there was quite a bit of slagging going on, but once people knew what it was for they were all very eager to donate a few Euros. I'll definitely do it again next year, and this time might even round up a few people to join me."

The money raised as a result of Movember is channeled by men’s health partners into a number of world class and innovative education, support, research and awareness initiatives. Movember Ireland collaborates with The Irish Cancer Society raising money for their initiative Action Prostate Cancer.

A huge thank to Alan for taking part and helping to raise awareness and funds for men’s health!!!

Enterprise Ireland - Best Connected

Ireland at LeWeb 2010

LeWeb is the most important conference about the web in Europe every year. You will not see a more impressive collection of heavy hitters in one place anywhere else. It’s the kind of place where you can meet people like Marissa Meyer or Niklas Zennström or Fred Wilson. One place where global businesses, VCs, other European/US start-ups and leading tech bloggers can see the best of Irish web start-ups.

This year some of the speakers on December 8th and 9th include Dennis Crowley, JP Rangaswami, Toni Schneider and Carlos Ghosn.

For the first time ever, Ireland will be represented at LeWeb and have a dedicated meeting place. Demozone Ireland will be in place over the two days in the Eiffel Dock (next to the Start Up Lounge) and will be showcasing the best of what Ireland has to offer in Internet. It’s an amazing opportunity for Ireland to strut its stuff to the cream of the Internet ecosystem.

11 companies are taking part and have a presence on Demozone Ireland:

* Cauwill Technologies (nominated for the Start Up Competition)
* Teamwork PM
* Feedhenry
* Gruupy.com
* Infacta (Miximo)
* Loudervoice
* Mxsweep
* Realex Payments
* Temetra
* Weedle
* Worky

You can follow all these Irish companies on Twitter at http://twitter.com/entirl/clients-at-leweb/

As a key focal point during the two day event, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland will be hosting a networking reception on the Demozone. At 17.30 on the 8th December, Ireland’s Ambassador to France, Paul Kavanagh, will kick off the reception to enable Irish companies, VCs, the big names in the Internet world and journalists to come together and share news and views.
